Cohen and Wolf was also selected by American Lawyer Media's Corporate Counsel® magazine as a "Go-To Law Firm®" for financial services companies in the area of litigation.

Attorneys in the Group regularly appear in federal and state trial courts throughout Connecticut and before administrative agencies such as the Connecticut Banking Commission, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Connecticut Siting Council, and various municipal boards and agencies. Members of the Group also appear in the appellate courts of Connecticut and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in a wide variety of cases.

The Group is committed to the effective and efficient use of pretrial discovery and other procedural tools throughout all phases of litigation to keep matters on track while encouraging an atmosphere conducive to settlement where appropriate. In recognition that most litigated matters are settled before trial, the Group is also committed to the use of alternative dispute resolution when appropriate, and has extensive experience in both mediation and arbitration.

Due to the firm’s extensive experience in Connecticut’s State and Federal courts, Cohen and Wolf is often retained as local counsel on behalf of parties that need to bring suit or find themselves sued in Connecticut’s courts. In this capacity, Cohen and Wolf attorneys assist out-of-state counsel in prosecuting and defending a wide variety of cases, including complex commercial disputes, securities fraud cases, insurance coverage disputes, RICO cases, ERISA matters, and employment matters. Based on the preferences of the client and out-of-state counsel, the firm can take on as expansive or as limited a role as a case requires.

Many of the attorneys in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group are also members of the firm’s Employment & Labor, Securities, Municipal, Personal Injury, Family Law or Land Use & Zoning Groups.
