Attorney Patricia C. Sullivan to Receive the 2026 Liberty Bell Award Presented by GBBA

Sullivan will receive the 2026 Liberty Bell Award from the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association (GBBA) on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Bridgeport Superior Court. As this year’s recipient, Attorney Sullivan will be honored for her lifelong service to the law and outstanding commitment to community service.

“I am honored to receive the 2026 Liberty Bell Award from the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association. As a member of the GBBA for 35 years, I know so many members of the bar and the community who quietly and without fanfare knit together this community and move it forward. I am humbled to be chosen,” said Attorney Sullivan.

The GBBA Liberty Bell Award is an annual honor recognizing an individual or organization that has encouraged greater respect for the rule of law and promoted civic responsibility within the Greater Bridgeport community. Each year, the award is presented on Law Day, a national observance that celebrates the role of law in society and promotes understanding of the legal system.

Patricia C. Sullivan has been an attorney with Cohen and Wolf for 27 years. Resident in the firm’s Bridgeport office, she is a principal and a member of the Municipal, Land Use & Zoning, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Appellate, and Real Estate Groups.

Attorney Sullivan has many years of experience in municipal and land use law. She represents a wide variety of clients including towns, cities, and quasi-municipal agencies, as well as commercial and residential developers and opposition groups, in a broad range of matters.  Attorney Sullivan’s municipal practice includes serving as town counsel, land use counsel, and special counsel. She advises on all aspects of municipal governance, assisting municipalities in resolving legal issues ranging from routine matters to complex areas of concern, including Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) matters and appellate litigation. She has successfully tried more than eighty land use cases to judgment and has appeared more than fifteen times before Connecticut's Appellate Courts.

Attorney Sullivan’s experience includes service as Town Attorney for Weston (2009-2015), Associate Town Attorney for Weston (2000-2009 and 2015-2018), Associate Town Attorney for Wilton (1992-2016), Assistant Town Attorney for Westport (1991-1993), and Interim Assistant Town Attorney for Westport (1997-1998).

Attorney Sullivan is a member of the Connecticut Association of Municipal Attorneys (CAMA) and a member and a former treasurer and director of the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association. She is also a member of the American, Connecticut, New York, Washington, D.C. and Fairfield County Bar Associations. Attorney Sullivan serves on the Connecticut Bar Association's Executive Committee of the Section on Planning and Zoning and is a member of the Litigation, Appellate and Real Estate Sections of the State Bar. Attorney Sullivan serves as an attorney trial referee, factfinder and arbitrator for the Connecticut State Judicial Department.
