David A. Ball, managing partner of Cohen and Wolf, P.C., and his wife, Bonnie Slyn, will receive the Distinguished Community Leadership Award at the Anti-Defamation League’s (“ADL”) 2013 Upper Fairfield County Award Reception and Centennial Gala on November 10th in Westport.

The ADL’s Distinguished Community Leadership Award is presented annually to outstanding citizens, who in word and deed contribute to building strong communities that are open to all people without regard to race, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

Mr. Ball, who specializes in complex commercial litigation cases, has served on ADL’s Connecticut Regional Board for 15 years, is the vice-chair of ADL’s Connecticut Civil Rights Committee and represents ADL on a national level as Associate National Commissioner. In  2007, he received ADL's prestigious Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award at the ADL national leadership conference in Washington D.C. Prior to that, he testified before the legislature on  behalf of ADL, urging the expansion of Connecticut’s hate crime statutes to cover disability and gender identity.

In addition to his work for ADL, Mr. Ball is active in the Jewish Center for Community Services of Eastern Fairfield County, previously serving on its Board of Directors and  chairing the Community Relations Commission and the Allocations Committee. He is a founding member of the Thriving Jewish Community Initiative and is currently on the Board of Directors at Congregation Beth El in Fairfield.

Additional honorees at this year’s event will be Julie & Robert Haroun and Anita Schorr. The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
