Cohen and Wolf Names New Principals and Of Counsel to the Firm

BRIDGEPORT, CT (January 11, 2021) – The law firm of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is very pleased to announce that C. Christian Young and Alexander Copp have become Principals of the firm, and Clifford A. Merin and Joshua Pedreira have been named Of Counsel.


C. Christian Young joined Cohen and Wolf in 2018 as Of Counsel and will continue his practice as a Principal of the firm. Mr. Young handles a wide variety of criminal and civil matters involving embezzlement, domestic incidents, student matters, trafficking, computer crimes, firearm offenses, and homicides. He has extensive experience assisting individuals and estates with issues related to the acquisition, retention, inheritance, and disposition of firearms.  In his personal injury practice, Mr. Young represents individuals who have suffered injury or loss due to carelessness, recklessness, or criminal acts, including those involving motorcycle and motor vehicle accidents, premises defects, and hazardous conditions.

Active in his community, Mr. Young served two terms on the Ansonia/Milford Grievance Panel (2007-2013).  He is currently serving on the Town of Orange Board of Education where he co-chairs both the Buildings and Grounds/Safety and Security Committee and the Policy Committee.

Mr. Young has been consistently recognized as a “Top Super Lawyer” in Connecticut and New England by Connecticut Super Lawyers® and in 2017, he received the “Outstanding Contribution to Criminal Defense” award by the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association.  He holds a Martindale Hubbell, AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating.  Mr. Young received his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Alexander Copp joined Cohen and Wolf, P.C. in 2014 as an Associate and will continue his practice as a Principal of the firm.  Mr. Copp regularly advises individuals, businesses, and municipalities in a wide range of matters, focusing primarily on civil litigation involving land use, landlord-tenant issues, probate litigation, defamation, employment discrimination, and business litigation.

In 2020, Mr. Copp was named a “New Leader in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune.  He is listed on the Connecticut Super Lawyers® list as a “Rising Star” in the area of General Litigation (2018-2020)From 2016-2018, Mr. Copp served as Chair of the CBA Young Lawyers Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.  He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Mr. Copp is a resident of Newtown, Connecticut.


Clifford A. Merin joined Cohen and Wolf in 2016 as an Associate and will continue his practice as Of Counsel.  Mr. Merin provides a range of legal services for private, public, and individual clients, and has extensive experience representing clients in family matters, including divorce, custody and child support proceedings.

Mr. Merin serves on the Board of Directors for the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce and is chair of the Chamber’s Young Professionals Group. Additionally, Mr. Merin serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation of the New Haven County Bar Association, and The Jewish Federation Association of Connecticut.

Mr. Merin was recognized by the Connecticut Law Tribune as a “New Leader in the Law” in 2019 and is named a “Rising Star” by Connecticut Super Lawyers®  for his work in the area of Family Law (2019-2020) and General Litigation (2018).  He earned his J.D. from New York Law School.  Mr. Merin is a resident of Guilford, Connecticut.


Joshua Pedreira joined Cohen and Wolf in 2015 as an Associate, and he will continue his practice as Of Counsel.  Mr. Pedreira’s practice is comprised of a vast array of litigation matters, including foreclosure, bankruptcy, debt collection, and landlord/tenant disputes.  He represents common interest communities, municipalities, and businesses, as well as individuals. 

In 2019, Mr. Pedreira was named a “New Leader in the Law” by the Connecticut Law Tribune.  He is listed on the Connecticut Super Lawyers® list as a “Rising Star” in the area of Creditor Debtor Rights (2018-2020).  Mr. Pedreira currently serves on the boards of the Child and Family Guidance Center, the Cardinal Shehan Center, and the Vasco da Gama Portuguese Cultural and Civic Center, all located in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  He earned his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law. 

Mr. Pedreira is a resident of Ansonia, Connecticut.
