Overview
Kristy is a seasoned financial executive, scholar, and private-public sector leader with more than two decades of experience in finance, strategic governance, and organizational transformation.
Kristy most recently served as City Controller for the City of New Haven, Connecticut, where she oversaw multimillion-dollar operating and capital budgets, strengthened internal controls, and led initiatives for modernization. She previously spent 18 years at Merrill Lynch, where she built a distinguished career in wealth management and financial advisory services. During Kristy's tenure, she worked with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on comprehensive financial planning, investment strategy, retirement planning, and risk management. Her experience at Merrill Lynch sharpened her expertise in capital markets, portfolio construction, client relationship management, and fiduciary responsibility, providing a strong private-sector foundation that continues to strengthen her executive financial leadership.
Kristy holds a Doctor of Education from Northeastern University, where her dissertation, From the Apron to the Cape: Examining the Experiences of Women Who Rose to Leadership Positions on Wall Street, explored the leadership trajectories of women in high-finance environments. She also earned an M.B.A and a B.S. in Finance from Southern Connecticut State University.
In addition to her executive leadership, Kristy is passionate about teaching, mentorship, and helping individuals improve their financial knowledge and access economic opportunities. She is deeply committed to advancing women in leadership, promoting financial inclusion, and building strong communities through leadership and responsible financial management.
