Cohen and Wolf, P.C. Names Two New Principals - Ann Fowler-Cruz and Philip C. Pires

The law firm of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is pleased to announce that Ann Fowler-Cruz and Philip C. Pires have become principals of the firm effective January 1, 2016.

Ann Fowler-Cruz joined Cohen and Wolf in 2008. She will continue her practice as a principal in the firm’s Trusts & Estates and Elder Law Groups. Ms. Fowler-Cruz's elder law practice focuses on long-term care planning, asset preservation strategies, Medicaid applications, disability planning, utilizing conservatorships/ guardianship and special needs trusts. Her estate planning practice includes the creation of wills, trusts, and advance directives. Ms. Fowler-Cruz also handles probate administration.

Ms. Fowler-Cruz has been a staunch advocate for the elderly and the disabled for more than a decade. She has the distinction of being a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation and is accredited to practice before the Department of Veterans Affairs. Her extensive knowledge in the area of elder law enables her to assist the elderly and the disabled in realizing the very best quality of life.  Ms. Fowler-Cruz is an active speaker in the community. She is a frequent guest speaker before professional organizations such as Alzheimer’s Association, Financial Planning Association of Connecticut and the Connecticut Bar Association, as well as local organizations.

Ms. Fowler-Cruz earned her J.D. at Quinnipiac College School of Law and her B.A. at Smith College.


Philip C. Pires joined Cohen and Wolf in 2008. He will continue his practice as a principal in the firm’s Litigation, Municipal and Land Use & Zoning Groups. Resident in the Bridgeport office, Mr. Pires practices in the areas of commercial litigation, real property litigation, property tax appeals, landlord/tenant litigation, probate litigation, and land use and zoning law.

In 2016, Mr. Pires was re-elected to serve a second two-year term on Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM) and was elected as the Democratic Minority Leader of the RTM . He will serve on the RTM's Legislation & Administration Committee and Special Legislative Management Committee. Mr. Pires has been recognized by Connecticut Super Lawyers (2012-2015), as a “Rising Star" in the category of Business Litigation and he is honored with an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Additionally, he was recently named a "New Leader in the Law" by the Connecticut Law Tribune (2015).

Mr. Pires received his B.A., in 2005, from Haverford College and his J.D., with honors, in 2008 from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
