BRIDGEPORT, CT – The law firm of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is proud to announce that Attorney Jason A. Buchsbaum and Attorney Philip C. Pires have been named to  Benchmark Litigation’s 2020 “40 & Under Hot List”.

Jason Buchsbaum has been named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List” for four consecutive years.  He is a principal in Cohen and Wolf’s Litigation and Municipal Law groups and represents individual, corporate and municipal clients in a wide range of litigation matters including complex commercial disputes, business litigation, construction disputes, real property and title disputes, tax appeals and enforcement proceedings.  Jason regularly advises municipal and private clients on local property tax issues, and advises municipalities on a variety of local governmental matters.

In addition to the practice of law, Jason is active in local government.  He currently serves as a member of the Southbury Board of Selectmen, and has served as the Selectmen liaison to the Town’s Local Emergency Planning Committee, Southbury Public Library Board of Directors, Historic Buildings Commission and Historical Tree Restoration Committee.  He has formerly served as the Vice-Chairman of Southbury’s Charter Revision Commission and on the Seymour Board of Education. 

Jason holds an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Rating, the highest possible Peer Review Rating™ from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers®, since 2011.  Jason is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Danbury Bar Association and the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association.

2020 marks the third consecutive year that Philip Pires has been named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List”.  Phil is a principal of Cohen and Wolf and resides in the firm’s Bridgeport office.  He practices law in the areas of commercial litigation, municipal law, estate and probate litigation, and land use and zoning, and represents both individuals and businesses in a variety of litigation matters. 

Active in his community, Phil serves as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Bridgeport’s Downtown Special Services District, a special taxing district serving the city’s downtown area.  He previously served for six years as a member of Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM), the legislative body for the Town of Fairfield, including two years as the Moderator of the RTM.
