Attorney Ellen R. Sutliffe Hain to Receive a “40 Under Forty” Award Presented by Westfair Business Journals

Congratulations to Attorney Ellen R. Sutliffe Hain, who will receive a “40 Under Forty” Award presented by Westfair Business Journals on April 30 at the Stamford Hotel in Stamford. Forty of the best and brightest business leaders in Fairfield County, under the age of 40, will be honored for their leadership, innovation, and outstanding contributions in their fields.

Ellen became a Principal of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. in January 2026. She is a member of the firm’s Trust & Estates, Elder Law, and Tax practice groups. She assists her clients in meeting their estate planning goals and protecting their assets for their loved ones. Ellen has significant experience in navigating the complicated long-term care system and preparing for and filing Medicaid long-term care applications. She regularly works with clients who are able to plan for asset preservation, as well as those who must act immediately to access public benefits systems.

Active in her community, Ellen currently serves as a board member of the CT Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and serves on the Board of Directors of MoCA CT (Museum of Contemporary Art). She served as Co-Chair of the Estates & Probate/Elder Law Section of the Fairfield County Bar Association from 2017-2024.

ALM and Law.com recognized Ellen as a 2024 “New Leader in the Law” for her outstanding legal work and service to both the bar and her community. Ellen has also been recognized by Best Lawyers "Ones to Watch" for Elder Law (2022-2026) and Trusts and Estates (2026) and Connecticut Super Lawyers® as a "Rising Star" for Estate & Probate (2023-2025).

Ellen is a graduate of Class II of the New England Fellows Institute of the American College of Trusts and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). Ellen is a member of PLAN of Connecticut, a Connecticut-based organization that administers special needs trusts. She obtained her B.A., magna cum laude, from Hofstra University, and her J.D., magna cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
