Cohen and Wolf Names Dr. Kristy L. Sampieri as Director of Finance
Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristy L. Sampieri, Ed.D., as the firm’s Director of Finance. In this role, Dr. Sampieri will oversee the firm’s annual budget, provide financial analysis and reporting, and manage expenditures and assets.

Dr. Sampieri is a seasoned financial executive, scholar, and private-public sector leader with more than two decades of experience in finance, strategic governance, and organizational transformation. She most recently served as City Controller for the City of New Haven, Connecticut, where she oversaw multimillion-dollar operating and capital budgets, strengthened internal controls, and led initiatives for modernization.
Previously, Dr. Sampieri spent 18 years at Merrill Lynch, where she built a distinguished career in wealth management and financial advisory services. She worked with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on comprehensive financial planning, investment strategy, retirement planning, and risk management. Dr. Sampieri’s experience at Merrill Lynch sharpened her expertise in capital markets, portfolio construction, client relationship management, and fiduciary responsibility, providing a strong private-sector foundation that continues to strengthen her executive financial leadership.
Dr. Sampieri holds a Doctor of Education from Northeastern University, where her dissertation, From the Apron to the Cape: Examining the Experiences of Women Who Rose to Leadership Positions on Wall Street, explored the leadership trajectories of women in high-finance environments. She also earned an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Finance from Southern Connecticut State University.
Currently, Dr. Sampieri serves as a member of the Board of Alumni for Southern Connecticut State University.
