Pires Elected to Fairfield RTM
BRIDGEPORT, CT – Philip C. Pires was recently elected to serve on Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM) as a representative of District 7. Mr. Pires will be serving a two-year term starting in November 2013. He will also serve on the RTM’s Education and Recreation Committee.
The RTM is the town’s legislative body. All legislative power of the town, including the power to enact ordinances, lies with the RTM. The RTM is made up of fifty members, five members from each of the town’s 10 voting districts.
In addition to his role on the RTM, Mr. Pires is an attorney in Cohen and Wolf, P.C.'s Litigation, Municipal, and Land Use and Zoning Groups, where he practices in the areas of commercial litigation, real property litigation, property tax appeals, landlord/tenant litigation, and land use and zoning law.
He was named a "Rising Star" by Connecticut Super Lawyers in 2012 and 2013 in the category of Business Litigation, an honor bestowed to no more than 2.5 percent of Connecticut lawyers under the age of 40 or who have been in practice for 10 years or less.
Mr. Pires also serves on the Bridgeport Community Board of Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut, Inc., and on the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Section of the Connecticut Bar Association as co-chair of its Municipal Law Committee.
