Cohen and Wolf is pleased to co-sponsor the diversity panel at The Federal Tax Institute of New England on November 2nd, 2023. The Federal Tax Institute of New England is a premier event for tax and estate planning professionals.  Attorney Luke T. Tashjian is one of the co-organizers for the comprehensive, all-day program that will help legal professionals stay current with tax issues and compliance challenges faced by Connecticut law firms, businesses, and individuals. In addition, Attorney David M. Levine will speak at the program on “Drafting LLC Operating Agreements: Considerations and Practice Tips.”

Luke is a principal in the Firm’s Trusts & Estates, Business & Corporate, and Tax Groups. Luke’s estate planning and administration practice includes probating estates, designing estate plans, and charitable planning including the preparation of naming rights agreements. In connection with his estate planning practice, he prepares wills, revocable trusts, domestic asset protection trusts, and irrevocable trusts, including spousal limited access trusts (SLATs), irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), grantor trusts, and complex trusts. Luke also advises clients on the transfer of assets to trusts including life insurance policies, private equity fund interests, and business interests. The types of tax controversy and collection matters that Luke represents clients in include domicile and residency audits, income tax audits, sales tax audits, requests for innocent spouse relief, offers in compromise, requests for private letter rulings, and requests for DRS opinions. Luke also represents clients in forming tax-efficient business vehicles, equity compensation, and the purchase, sale, and merger of businesses.

 

David chaired Cohen and Wolf’s Business and Corporate Group for over 20 years and currently continues to chair its Physicians' Group.  He is also a member of the Real Estate, and Commercial Finance Groups.  He is a pragmatic, detail-oriented dealmaker who spends much of his time quarterbacking, negotiating, and documenting transactions of diverse deal sizes and subject matter.  With nearly four decades of experience, a meaningful percentage of David’s practice is devoted to the legal relationships involving healthcare entities and the entrepreneurial professionals who comprise them.
