JOHN P. MARINI serves as Of Counsel to Cohen and Wolf, P.C. and is a member of the firm’s Municipal and Litigation groups. He is a resident in the firm’s Bridgeport office.

In connection with his work at Cohen and Wolf, P.C., Mr. Marini serves as Corporation Counsel for the City of Ansonia, a position he has held since 2013. As Corporation Counsel, Mr. Marini is responsible for overseeing the municipality’s legal affairs and provides legal counsel on matters including: municipal legislation; development projects; contracts; labor and employment; land use; zoning enforcement; the administration of municipal liens; interpretation of the City Charter and Code; temporary housing relocation pursuant to the Uniform Relocation Act; and responses to requests made pursuant to the State of Connecticut Freedom of Information Act.

Mr. Marini has assisted Ansonia officials with the creation and implementation of successful anti-blight and business tax abatement programs, and works with Ansonia’s Office of Economic Development to facilitate public-private partnerships with commercial property owners. He has also been instrumental in promulgating marketing strategies for the City of Ansonia, overseeing the city’s “Ansonia Recharged” business development campaign and assisting in the design of “Access Ansonia,” a smartphone application for city residents.

Prior to joining Cohen and Wolf, P.C., Mr. Marini has handled matters involving the representation of municipalities, insurance defense, complex litigation, worker’s compensation and personal injury trial law.

Mr. Marini has held a variety of public positions, serving as a member of the Ansonia Board of Aldermen (2009 through 2013) and Chairman of the Ansonia Economic Development and Charter Revision Commissions. Mr. Marini has also served as Chairman of the Ansonia Republican Town Committee, sat on executive board of the Connecticut Landbank for Brownfield Renewal, LLC and is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Aurora Council #53.

Mr. Marini is listed as a “Top 40 Lawyer Under 40” by the American Society of Legal Advocates (2014-2018). He was also recognized by the Connecticut Post as one of the Bridgeport area’s top 10 newsmakers of 2013.

Mr. Marini received his B.A., cum laude, in Economics and English Literature from Fairfield University in 2002 and his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006.
