Associate Recruitment

Most Cohen and Wolf, P.C. attorneys have never practiced anywhere else.  The firm hires associates who it believes will succeed and spend their careers at Cohen and Wolf, P.C.  Due to the firm’s size and philosophy of staffing cases efficiently and economically for clients, associates are given a great deal of responsibility early in their careers.  It is not unusual for associates to handle matters independently in their first year of practice.

Cohen and Wolf prides itself on selecting highly qualified associates who are eager to take an active role in the firm’s practice.  Typically, associates are assigned to the firm’s litigation practice or to its transactional practice.  Within these broad areas, associates are encouraged to develop their practices in areas that interest them and meet the firm’s needs.  Assignments to all associates are coordinated through specific partners in each practice group.

The firm assigns a senior associate as a mentor to each new associate.  In-house training is conducted on a regular basis, including monthly associate case work-shopping sessions.  In addition, associates are encouraged to attend continuing legal education seminars outside the office.

Cohen and Wolf partners maintain an “open-door” policy that fosters an environment of communication between all attorneys.  Associates typically receive feedback on their work product on an ongoing basis.  Formal evaluations are conducted on an annual basis.

The firm’s commitment to community service is imbued to associates as well.  All attorneys are urged to become involved in meaningful activities outside the office.  Cohen and Wolf, P.C.’s proud tradition of community service is well known throughout Connecticut.

Compensation & Benefits

Cohen and Wolf, P.C. associates are compensated at a salary level competitive with other law firms in the area.  The firm also provides for health insurance; life insurance; long-term disability insurance; 401(k); paid vacation; partially paid FMLA leave; dependent care assistance; annual bonus; payment of membership fees in national, state and local bar associations; paid continuing legal education; payment of Connecticut’s occupational tax; bar examination expenses; and moving expenses, where applicable.
