Litigation Chair Named Counsel to Grievance Committee of the Federal District Court

Bridgeport, CT, December 10, 2007-Stewart I. Edelstein, Chair of the Litigation practice at Cohen and Wolf, P.C., was named as Counsel to the Grievance Committee of the Federal District Court of Connecticut. Mr. Edelstein was appointed by Chief United States District Court Judge Robert N. Chatigny to serve a three-year term, commencing Jan. 1, 2008.

The Federal Court's Grievance Committee handles complaints regarding attorney misconduct. Complaints arise from aggrieved individuals, reciprocal discipline from the state, referral from a judge, or conviction of an attorney in a state or federal proceeding. Mr. Edelstein will provide counsel in determining whether the complaint should be dismissed, or the attorney should face disciplinary measures, which range from censure to disbarment.

He is a frequent faculty member at National Institute for Trial Advocacy seminars and at the Connecticut Trial Advocacy Institute, and has published over thirty articles on litigation topics.
