Weston Wins Case Against Cablevision

As reported in the Connecticut Law Tribune and on the front page of the Westport News, the town of Weston won a major victory against Cablevision over community access programming. The Connecticut Department of Public Utility (DPUC) announced a ruling that Cablevision does not have the right to restrict local access television producers from offering their programs to other cable and video distributors. Weston was represented by Cohen and Wolf, P.C. acting as town attorneys.

"The Department's ruling will have a significant impact well beyond Weston," said Weston First Selectman Woody Bliss. "We have established the right of people all over Connecticut to make the community access programs they produce available to more than just local Cablevision subscribers."

The Cohen and Wolf team was comprised of Principals Patricia C. Sullivan and G. Kenneth Bernhard, and Associate David M. Morosan. Douglas S. Malan's article, "DPUC Cuts Off Cable Provider," appeared in the Connecticut Law Tribune the week of November 5, 2007.  "Weston Wins Case Against Cablevision" by Don Casciato, appeared in the October 24th edition of Westport News.
