$500 Million Development Will Recast the Skyline of BridgeportA new $500 million plan to build five high-rise residential buildings at the former Remington shaver site in Bridgeport "is the best thing to happen in Bridgeport in many years" said Austin K. Wolf, speaking at the Planning and Zoning Commission hearing on Wednesday, September 19. The hearing was covered by reporter Joel Thompson for the Connecticut Post. Mr. Wolf, a lawyer representing the development team, outlined the project which will begin with an 18-story residential tower, two restaurants, beach improvements and a boardwalk. He said a marina with 250 boat slips would also be added once the state Department of Environmental Protection approves it. The team developing the site includes 60 Main Street LLC, 3260 Broadway Services Center, Inc, Hiram Adelman and Brook Merrow. Wolf said the team is asking the commission to approve a change of zone for the 12.2 acre site from industrial to mixed-use waterfront along with a general development plan and a coastal site plan. "Residence Planned by Seaside," by Joel C. Thompson, appeared in the Connecticut Post on September 20, 2007. |
