Cohen and Wolf Attorneys Ride to Raise $100K in the Pan Mass Challenge 

Danbury, CT, July 9, 2007 - Inspired by a two-year-old boy's fight against leukemia, eight attorneys from Cohen and Wolf, P.C., will again take to the road this August to help raise $100,000 for cancer research.

The Cohen and Wolf lawyers, as part of Team R, will be riding in the annual Pan-Mass Challenge ("PMC"), a 192-mile bicycle ride across Massachusetts to benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports cancer research and care at Boston's world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The money raised allows Dana-Farber to conduct research and explore treatments that for budget reasons would not be possible otherwise.

Team R, now in its sixth year, has set a goal of raising $100,000 this year for a total of nearly half a million dollars since its inception. Team R, led by Monte Frank, principal at Cohen and Wolf, now totals 24 riders and includes firm attorneys Stewart Edelstein and Vincent Marino, and associates Ari Hoffman, Courtney George, Jesse Langer, Carrie Larson and Lauren Walters.

"With government funding for cancer research cut for the first time in 35 years, the smart doctors and researchers at Dana Farber will need to rely more and more on funds raised by the PMC to continue their cutting edge work," said Mr. Frank. The attorneys' dedication to the cause is reflected in the early morning group rides that average 25 miles. "The hills of Connecticut are a good preparation for the Pan Mass Challenge," said Mr. Marino from Orange, who has been organizing the strenuous workouts.

Mr. Frank launched Team R as Team Randy in 2002 to honor his then 5-year-old nephew, Randy Frank, in his fight against childhood leukemia. "It is amazing that Randy is now almost 10 years old, and is 'cured,'" said Mr. Frank. "Randy is living proof that we are making progress in the fight against cancer.

Two years ago, Team Randy changed its name to Team R (Riding for Randy and Ronni) in honor of team member Gary Duncan's wife, Ronni, who has been fighting cancer for 15 years. "In talking with Ronni, it is clear to me that this ride is not about the bike," said Mr. Frank. "To put it bluntly, it's about the money. What makes this ride so different is that we raise a lot of money for cancer research and treatment." The PMC's goal for this year is $27 million.

"The Pan-Mass Challenge has made what we do at Dana-Farber possible," said Dr. Edward Benz, President of Dana-Farber. "When they write the history as to how cancer was conquered, the PMC will be in chapter one."

99 cents of every dollar raised in the Pan-Mass Challenge goes directly to cancer treatment and research at Dana-Farber.
