To commemorate the occasion of the firms 50th anniversary, Cohen and Wolf sponsored construction of a new aviary at the Beardsley Zoo, contributing the time and the talent to "raise" the structure. The aviary will house raptorsbirds of preycommonly found in North American habitats. Many of the raptors at the Beardsley Zoo are graduates of "rehabilitation" programs, birds that cannot be released into the wild after recovering from injury or illness. The aviary provides a safe home for the birds as well as ideal viewing conditions for visitors, young and old. Located on the Hoofstock Trail, visitors can find bison, white tail deer, pronghorn antelope and other species native to the grasslands of the United States in addition to the newly-housed raptors. "As Connecticut's only zoo, the Beardsley Zoo is an asset to Bridgeport and to the entire state. Building the aviary was a fun way to give back to this vital organization and make a very meaningful contribution to the families of Connecticut," stated Jocelyn Hurwitz, attorney with Cohen and Wolf, P.C., and a member of the Board of Directors of the Beardsley Zoo. "Cohen and Wolf, P.C. encourages its attorneys to work with non-profit organizations within its surrounding communities as a way of demonstrating our commitment to our neighbors," stated Ms. Hurwitz. The team from Cohen and Wolf, P.C., included Ms. Hurwitz and family, as well as over 30 attorneys, staff and family members. Their labors involved raising the structure, planting and grooming the Hoofstock Trail.
