Nine attorneys from Cohen and Wolf, P.C. have been selected for the 2009 issue of New England Super Lawyers magazine. Eight attorneys, all principals at the firm - Richard Albrecht, Jocelyn Hurwitz, Stuart Katz, Irving Kern, Greta Solomon, Austin Wolf, Joseph Walsh and David Zabel - were included in the Super Lawyers List. In addition, principal Ari Hoffman has been named a "Rising Star" in the same edition of New England Super Lawyers..

- Richard L. Albrecht (Family Law) is a principal in Cohen and Wolf's Litigation, Appellate and Family Law Groups. Mr. Albrecht represents clients in complex financial litigations, including matrimonial, estate, and family business matters. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Mr. Albrecht serves on the faculty of the Connecticut Appellate Advocacy Institute and is a longstanding member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association. Mr. Albrecht graduated from Cornell Law School and Bucknell University.
- Ari J. Hoffman (Rising Star: General Litigation) is a principal in the Litigation, Securities and Common Interest Community Groups at Cohen and Wolf. Mr. Hoffman practices in the areas of commercial and criminal litigation, securities law, and condominium law. He practices in both state and federal courts handling complex commercial litigation cases; business tort claims; securities fraud actions; various criminal matters; and condominium litigation. Mr. Hoffman received his J.D from Boston College Law School and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Brandeis University.
- Jocelyn B. Hurwitz (Family Law) chairs Cohen and Wolf's Family Law Group. Ms. Hurwitz practices in the areas of family law litigation and divorce mediation. Ms. Hurwitz serves as a special master, appointed by the Superior Court, to mediate divorce and custody disputes in the judicial districts of New Haven and Bridgeport, and in the Regional Family Trial Docket in Middletown. She serves on the Board of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation and Collaborative Law. Ms. Hurwitz earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School as well as her B.S. from Cornell University.
- Stuart M. Katz (Employment Litigation: Defense) chairs Cohen and Wolf's Employment & Labor Group and is also a member of firm's Litigation and Physicians Practices Groups. Mr. Katz's practice focuses on employment law and commercial litigation. He represents employers of all sizes in defending discrimination and harassment suits and litigating restrictive covenant, breach of contract and business tort and wage claims. Mr. Katz earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Brandeis University.
- Irving J. Kern (Real Estate) is the Managing Partner of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. He is also a principal in the firm's Real Estate, Business & Corporate, Physicians Practices and Trusts & Estates Groups. Mr. Kern has extensive experience practicing in real estate, commercial, corporate, professional corporations, estate planning and probate law. Mr. Kern represents buyers, sellers and lenders with real estate and business transactions. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.S. with high honors from the University of Connecticut.
- Greta E. Solomon (Estate Planning & Probate) chairs Cohen and Wolf's Trusts & Estates, Elder Law, and Tax Groups. Ms. Solomon has been assisting clients in the areas of estate planning, elder law, and probate administration (including estates, trusts, conservatorships, guardianships, etc.) for more than 30 years. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Ms. Solomon received her LL.M. (in Taxation) from New York, her J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law, and her A.B. in 1973 from Smith College.
- Joseph Walsh (Personal Injury Plantiff) is chair of Cohen and Wolf's Personal Injury Group and a member of the firm's Litigation Group. Mr. Walsh's practice covers personal injury, criminal and commercial litigation. He also supervises many of the enforcement actions filed on behalf of the firm's municipal clients. He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association since 2006. He served as president of the Danbury Bar Association in 1997. Mr. Walsh received his J.D., cum laude from Boston College Law School and his B.S., summa cum laude, from Manhattan College.
- Austin K. Wolf (Land Use/Zoning) is the co-founder of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. He is also a principal in the firm's Real Estate and Land Use & Zoning Groups. Mr. Wolf's practice focuses on land use planning, zoning, wetlands, real estate development, and industrial and commercial leasing. He is a member and past chairman of the Planning and Zoning Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association. He also served on the Connecticut Bar Association House of Delegates. Mr. Wolf was honored recently with the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award by the Connecticut Bar Association's Planning & Zoning Section. He earned his LL.B., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and his B.A. from Yale University.
- David Zabel (Business Litigation) is a principal in Cohen and Wolf's Litigation, Employment & Labor, and Municipal Groups. Mr. Zabel has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts as well as arbitration proceedings, including representing policyholders in coverage disputes with insurers; real estate litigation; disputes involving closely held businesses; business torts; probate litigation; municipal litigation; and complex bankruptcy proceedings. In the employment arena, Mr. Zabel represents primarily business owners and management and counsels employers in a wide variety of employment matters, including discrimination and wrongful discharge claims, restrictive covenants, employment agreements, and personnel policies and procedures. Mr. Zabel earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law after receiving his A.B. from Brown University.
