Cohen and Wolf Attorney Vin Marino Named "Rising Star" by Business New Haven

Vincent M. Marino, attorney at Cohen and Wolf, P.C., has been selected as one of Business New Haven's Rising Stars for 2009. Mr. Marino was the only attorney among the 17 professionals chosen as one of the business leaders for tomorrow in the greater New Haven area by the respected business periodical.

The Orange, CT resident will formally receive the honor at a special ceremony on October 15 at Amarante's Sea Cliff in New Haven.

In his Business New Haven profile, "Legal Eagle Flies High in Community," Mr. Marino was cited for his professional and community work. He credited his grandfathers as the person(s) who most influenced his life. "One was an immigrant from Italy, the other of Irish descent," he noted. "But both started with nothing and through hard work and perseverance were successful in life and business while making family and community service central to their lives."

Mr. Marino told the magazine that his guiding philosophy is "Success is built upon hard work and the willingness to fail." Mr. Marino is a principal in Cohen and Wolf's Litigation and Municipal Groups. He divides his time between the firm's Bridgeport and Orange Offices, practicing in the areas of commercial litigation, construction, municipal law and bankruptcy. Mr. Marino also serves as town attorney for the town of Orange, Connecticut.

He recently was appointed by Gov. M. Jodi Rell as the Governor's Representative to the South Central Connecticut Regional Water District. He also was appointed earlier this year as a member of the State Committee for the Compensation of Elected Officials and Judges.

Mr. Marino is the former chairman of the Orange Republican Town Committee and past president of the Orange Young Republicans. He previously served on the Paralegal Advisory Board for the Sacred Heart University Paralegal Program in Trumbull, CT. He serve as a director on the board of the Orange Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Milford Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as a mentor for the Bridgeport Bridge Academy.

In 2004, Mr. Marino received a prestigious New Leaders of the Law Award from the Connecticut Law Tribune for young lawyers demonstrating leadership, innovation and dedication within their profession and communities.

Mr. Marino earned his B.A. in 1993 from the State University of New York at Binghamton and his J.D. in 1996 from Quinnipiac University School of Law.
