Chambers USA Cites Cohen and Wolf's Real Estate Group, Litigation Group, and Four Individual Lawyers as Leaders in their Fields in Connecticut

Attorneys at Cohen and Wolf, P.C. have again received the prestigious honor of being recognized by Chambers USA 2009 as "Leaders in their Fields" in Connecticut. Included in this year's rankings are the firm's Real Estate practice group and Litigation practice group. Stuart Katz, Chair of Cohen and Wolf's Employment & Labor Group and three members of the Litigation Group - David Ball, Richard Slavin, and Monte Frank - were selected as "leaders" in their respective practice areas. Chambers surveys lawyers throughout Connecticut to ascertain the leading attorneys and practice groups in the state.

Cohen and Wolf's real estate group, which includes 17 attorneys, was cited as offering "an interdisciplinary approach by dovetailing effectively with the litigation group." Chambers also noted that in addition to handling traditional real estate and land use matters, the group has increasingly focused on environmentally sound building initiatives and restructuring of troubled assets. The group handles work for local and national companies, in both the public and private sector.

Stuart Katz, Chair of Cohen and Wolf's Employment & Labor Group took his place among Connecticut's top employment lawyers for the second year in a row. His ranking reflects his success in defending businesses in discrimination and harassment suits and his litigation of restrictive covenants, breach of contract, and wage claims.

New to the rankings this year was Cohen and Wolf's Litigation Group. The group was specifically cited for its ability to handle complex matters and its 24 attorneys who "demonstrate a responsiveness and tenacity that wins over interviewees." David Ball was praised as "charismatic" and easy to work with, while Richard Slavin, who is the Chair of Cohen and Wolf's Securities Practice Group, was "seen as a formidable force in the market." Monte Frank was "lauded for his efficiency and for representing his clients with the appropriate level of aggression when the situation dictates."
