Overview

Cohen and Wolf's Legal Ethics Group counsels and represents attorneys, law firms, and persons seeking admission to the Connecticut Bar in matters concerning licensing and professional discipline as well as litigation. We assist and defend attorneys and law firms in disciplinary proceedings including grievance complaints and court sanction hearings, IOLTA account audits, fee disputes, malpractice actions, and admission and reinstatement proceedings. We also serve as expert witnesses in the areas of professional ethics and professional liability. Our services are practical and proactive, because without the assistance of experienced counsel, a complaint that should be resolved may result in a finding of liability or probable cause.

We also offer risk management services.  Our focus is to assist lawyers, law firms, and in-house counsel in minimizing their exposure to disciplinary or malpractice actions.  Services we provide include office assessments, file review, pseudo audits, and general or issue-specific consultations.

Our Professional Ethics Group offers seasoned advice. Attorneys in the group include a former First Assistant Chief Disciplinary Counsel in Connecticut, former Counsel for the Federal Grievance Committee of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, a longstanding member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association, and an appointed trustee for disbarred, suspended or inactive attorneys.
