Attorneys Merin and Pedreira Recognized as "New Leaders in the Law"

BRIDGEPORT, Conn.  – The law firm of Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is pleased to announce that Clifford A. Merin and Joshua Pedreira, associates with the firm, have been recognized by the Connecticut Law Tribune as “New Leaders in the Law”

The Connecticut Law Tribune recognizes attorneys who have excelled in one or more of the following categories: the courtroom, client service and cultivation, service to bar associations, pro bono work and/or community service. Mr. Merin and Mr. Pedreira were among 24 attorneys named this year from law firms throughout the state of Connecticut as “New Leaders in the Law”. The selection process consisted of outside nominations and internal review. Award recipients will be honored at the Connecticut Legal Awards Dinner held to be held at the Bond Ballroom in Hartford on May 16th.

Mr. Merin is an associate in Cohen and Wolf’s Litigation, Employment & Labor, Family Law and Criminal Defense groups. Resident in the firm’s Bridgeport office, Mr. Merin’s practice involves a wide range of litigation matters, including matrimonial, employment and labor, and landlord/tenant disputes. He also handles criminal defense proceedings.

Mr. Merin serves on the Board of Directors for the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce and is chair of the Chamber’s Young Professionals Group. Additionally, Mr. Merin serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation of the New Haven County Bar Association and The Jewish Federation Association of Connecticut, and on the Board of Agriculture for the Town of Guilford. 

Mr. Merin earned his B.A. in Journalism and Near Eastern Studies, magna cum laude, from the University of Massachusetts, and his J.D. from New York Law School. He is admitted to practice in both Connecticut and New York, as well as the U.S. District Court, District Court of Connecticut, and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.

Mr. Pedreira is an associate in Cohen and Wolf’s Municipal, Litigation, Common Interest Communities, and Bankruptcy groups, and is resident in the firm’s Bridgeport office. Mr. Pedreira’s practice is comprised of a vast array of litigation matters, including foreclosure, bankruptcy, debt collection, and landlord/tenant disputes. He represents numerous common interest communities, municipalities, banks, and private lenders. 

Mr. Pedreira is a member of the American, Connecticut, Greater Bridgeport and Portuguese Bar Associations. He currently serves on the Board of the Vasco da Gama Portuguese Cultural and Civic Center in Bridgeport, CT.

Mr. Pedreira earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, and his J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut.
