Marcia M. Escobedo Selected for ABA Diverse Leaders Academy
BRIDGEPORT,CT – Marcia M. Escobedo, an attorney with Cohen and Wolf, P.C., has been selected to participate in the 2014-2016 American Bar Association Diverse Leaders Academy, a program offered by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Litigation Section. Each Diverse Leader serves a two-year term and engages in the substantive work of the Section while developing into future leaders.
The primary objectives of the program are to attract, retain and develop talented diverse lawyers, foster a culture of diversity and inclusion, to further demonstrate the Section’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunity in the profession and to create a pipeline of future leaders of the Section.
Resident in the firm’s Bridgeport office, Ms. Escobedo focuses her practice in the areas of commercial litigation, employment and labor law and family law. She represents individuals and businesses in a variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, business tort claims, fiduciary removal proceedings, eviction actions, and premises liability matters. Ms. Escobedo has experience representing private and public employers in discrimination and workers compensation suits in state and federal court and in agency proceedings. She also represents individuals in divorce and custody actions.
In October 2011, Ms. Escobedo was sworn into the U.S. Supreme Court bar. She is a member of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association’s Board of Directors, member of the Connecticut Bar Association, and a community volunteer for the New Haven Juvenile Review Board. Ms. Escobedo is fluent in Spanish.
