Ken Bernhard Appointed to Serve on Public Defenders Commission

  • On February 28th, G. Kenneth Bernhard was appointed to serve on the Connecticut Public Defenders Commission by Senator John Mc Kinney, the Connecticut Senate Minority Leader. The Commission is part of the State’s legal justice system and is responsible for overseeing the Connecticut Public Defenders Office.

    Upon learning of his appointment, Ken Bernhard stated, “I am honored to have been selected to serve in this important role and to be a part of a system that protects the Constitutional rights of our citizens.” Ken Bernhard previously served as Westport’s State Representative from 1997 to 2006 and has served in numerous other state public offices since that date. Mr. Bernhard has taught American Constitutional Law in numerous law schools around the world.  

    Mr. Bernhard is a principal in the law firm of Cohen and Wolf, PC. He is part of the Municipal, Business & Corporate, Real Estate, Family Law and Appellate Groups. He represents municipalities and a wide range of businesses, as well as individuals, in litigation, real estate, matrimonial and commercial matters. Mr. Bernhard presently serves as town attorney for the Town of Wilton (since 1992), and formerly served as town attorney for the Towns of Westport and Weston.

    Mr. Bernhard is active in state and local matters. He served, or presently serves, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Westport Library; Visiting Nurse and Hospice; The Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce; The Norwalk Human Services Council; Earthplace; the Westport Historical Society; the Levitt Pavilion; the Aspetuck Land Trust; and the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. He is presently the Co-Chairman of the Connecticut League of Constitutional Voters.
