DAVID M. LEVINE is a principal and chair of Cohen and Wolf's Business & Corporate, Physicians Practices Groups, and a member of the Real Estate and Commercial Lending Groups. Resident in the firm's Bridgeport office, Mr. Levine practices in the areas of business, health care and real estate transactions, including acquisitions, financing, formation and structural issues related to business entities. He has extensive experience in contract drafting and negotiation and devotes a substantial portion of his practice to the legal relationships among physicians and the entities with whom physicians contract.
Mr. Levine chairs the Business Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. He previously co-chaired the CBA’s LLC Subcommittee that drafted the Connecticut Uniform Limited Liability Company Act which went into effect July 1, 2017. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Health Lawyers Association and is a member of the American, New York and Greater Bridgeport Bar Associations and the American Health Lawyers Association. He speaks to business and legal audiences on the Connecticut Uniform Limited Liability Company as well as physician practice and closely-held business issues. Mr. Levine is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York and the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut.
Mr. Levine currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bridgeport Economic Development Corporation (BEDCO). He is a past president of the Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce and served on the Executive Committee of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), where his efforts emphasized economic development initiatives within the City of Bridgeport. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District, a special taxing district serving that city's downtown.
Mr. Levine has been recognized as a leading lawyer in Connecticut in the area of Corporate/M&A (2016-2018 editions) and Healthcare (2012-2018 editions) by Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers for Business, whose sources state that he is a "great negotiator", does "exemplary work" and "is always ahead of the game, anticipating client needs". He is also recognized by Connecticut Super Lawyers in the category of Business/Corporate Law (2014-2018).
He received his A.B., magna cum laude, in 1983 from Brandeis University and his J.D. in 1986 from Boston University School of Law.
