Cohen and Wolf, P.C.’s summer program provides law students with an environment that mirrors the first-year associate experience. The firm makes every effort to involve summer associates in all areas of practice and expose them to courtroom proceedings, depositions, client meetings, and negotiations.  Upon arriving at the firm, each summer associate is assigned a “mentor,” an attorney who will help guide them through the summer and who will generally serve as a sounding board to answer questions or concerns which might arise.

The primary objective of our summer program is to provide students with quality work assignments and professional experiences representative of the depth and complexity of our practice. Summer associates are encouraged to participate in all areas of the firm’s practice and undertake meaningful roles in the cases to which they are assigned.

Most significantly, Cohen and Wolf, P.C. is committed to providing hands-on training and continuous feedback from the attorneys with whom summer associates work. In addition, each summer associate receives a mid- and end-of-summer review of his or her performance. Also, through the Summer Associate Coordinator, work assignments are structured in order to ensure that workloads are properly managed.

An important part of the summer program is dedicated to integrating the summer associates with the attorneys in the firm. Throughout the program, Cohen and Wolf, P.C. hosts several social events for summer associates and all attorneys, including receptions and excursions around Connecticut and New York and volunteer opportunities within the community.

Cohen and Wolf is proud of its history of hiring entry-level associates through the summer program. In fact, it is the firm’s intention that our summer associates become our entry-level associates and, in time, Principals of the firm. To that end, we typically hire only two summer associates each year. Given the size and goals of the summer program, our recruitment process might look and feel a bit different than at other firms. Our process is deliberative and collaborative and reflects the value we place on our summer program. If you have any questions or concerns about our timeline, please talk to us.
